Semiotic May 2025 Update

AI

We’re working hard on a couple of soon-to-be-announced AI efforts. Stay tuned for next month!

GraphTally and Indexer Service

This month, we continued to deepen our investment in integration testing and profiling support for GraphTally and the indexer service. Our local testnet infrastructure has proven essential in helping us proactively catch issues and reproduce real-world bugs, and we’ve expanded its use across new Horizon-relevant workflows.

We also engaged with several compelling whitehat bug bounty reports, which prompted important fixes across both the indexer-rs and timeline-aggregation-protocol (TAP) repositories. These reports have strengthened our security posture and helped us identify edge cases not previously covered by our tests.

In parallel, we’ve been tracking upstream changes and completed the upgrade to the latest alloy release, ensuring compatibility and paving the way for further improvements in type safety and provider abstraction across the stack.

Alongside the technical work, we’ve made a concerted effort to ensure that Indexers are being heard in the right channels and connected with the appropriate protocol and core dev teams. By tightening this feedback loop, we’re helping surface issues faster and ensuring that our development priorities remain aligned with real-world Indexer needs.

As Horizon smart contracts move toward finalization, we remain focused on maintaining alignment with protocol teams and supporting a smooth transition across all affected services.

Cryptography

We are maintaining veemon, and this month we made changes to handle updates in StreamingFast’s Firehose flat files format. We also included a general infrastructure for supporting flat files from non-EVM chains.
