Wave 4 Grant Update (4:26)
There has been a pattern of success among grantees who have contributed to the building blocks of Web3! Many grantees within The Graph Protocol ecosystem have either transitioned into full-time contributors or have been awarded a core development grant and joined the growing number of teams dedicated to improving The Graph.
Applicants should bring their ideas to the community in the forums, on Twitter or through reddit to get feedback on ideas. There has been great feedback with applicants who look for community sentiment and it gives everyone a sense of what grants will have a real use case.
Wave 4 grants will be announced soon, and The Graph Foundation is interviewing for wave 5!
Vishwa Mehta (8:17)
Vishwa Mehta has joined The Graph Foundation as a developer relations engineer! Mehta has a background in computer science and engineering and was previously with Hasura.io.
Mehta progressed from a 12 year old kid tinkering with future programs to starting a student development club at her university and eventually securing a position in developer relations.
My focus will be to improve and enhance The Graph development experience. I will be supporting and celebrating that side of the community… I believe that I can be that human superglue, who sort of helps solidify all the educational efforts and all the community and developer relations efforts we are doing and make sure that we push this mission forward – this collective mission of empowering people who are building decentralized APIs.
Graph Day (15:56)
Save the date! Graph day will commence on June 2nd, 2022. The event will take place in San Francisco at the Palace of Fine Arts. Be sure to follow The Graph Protocol on Twitter and other social channels so you don’t miss the announcement on how to attend!

Hardhat Graph Plugin
Hardhat is one of the most widely used frameworks for smart contract development on Ethereum. A plugin specific to The Graph would allow smart contract developers to automatically generate a subgraph folder and populate it with the basic subgraph structure and files. Please share thoughts and feedback for the Hardhat plugin concept in the form!
Subgraph Testing Mini-Series
The subgraph testing mini-series on YouTube covers how to utilize Matchstick unit testing framework developed by LimeChain to test your subgraphs!
Developer Guides Mini-Series
The developer guides mini-series on YouTube features how to query a subgraph from a web application and how to build an NFT API and subgraph on NEAR using The Graph Protocol. More to come!
GIP–0023 Replaces GIP–0018
GIP–0018 Subgraph ownership transfer has been replaced by GIP–0023 due to the original GIP failing a quality audit. Technical revisions have been made to the original GIP and GIP–0023 will proceed to council voting in three days.
Graphtronauts App (21:23)

Defining The Web3 Stack (33:37)

In this segment of Community Talk #7, Nader Dabit, a developer relations engineer at Edge & Node, takes The Graph community through a deep dive into the life as a Web3 developer. With circa 10 years of experience as a traditional full-stack developer he has compiled a guide – and living document – for developers looking to transition to developing in Web3.
Through experience and research, Dabit covers:
- Web3 primitives’ developers need to know (the Web3 stack)
- The importance of decentralization in Web 3 development
- The importance of consumers to identify key indicators that an app is decentralized
- Identity in Web3
In the end, it translates to all of us by having a choice. When we engage in NFT’s, when we select marketplaces that we operate in, we can check them, and we can see. Are they using the stacks that Nader has defined and others as well? Or are they using centralized services?
