Summary
September was a very productive month for the Pinax team!
We successfully sunset our hosted dfuse service for EOS and WAX blockchains and have migrated all users to new Substreams-powered-subgraphs on The Graph. We’ve also improved the performance of our indexer, added support for new chains, and produced a whole bunch of educational content and promoted the Graph at multiple live events. Plus a whole lot more - read on to learn more!
Looking back (what was delivered)
Provide infrastructure for chains currently supported on The Graph & to support protocol integration with new chains
EOS and WAX Substreams-Powered-Subgraphs on The Graph:
Chain-agnostic Subgraphs:
- Successfully deployed the Antelope Transactions subgraph, which tracks transaction data across Antelope networks.
- Launched the Antelope Tokens (Balance & Supply) subgraph to manage token balances and supply across Antelope-based chains.
- Released the Cosmos Governance Proposal subgraph, enabling the tracking of governance proposals on Cosmos-based networks, including votes, deposits, and fully decoded proposal content.
dApp/Protocol Subgraphs:
- Delivered the Roundtable subgraph, supporting data integration for the Roundtable decentralized application.
- Completed the Satoshi Gaming Group subgraph, facilitating data collection for the Satoshi Gaming Group platform.
- Developed the Alien Worlds (WAX) subgraph, tracking in-game data for the Alien Worlds universe on the WAX blockchain.
- Finalized the Farmers World (WAX) subgraph, which supports the Farmers World game on the WAX blockchain.
Raw Blocks Substreams:
- Extended the block schema for Antelope based chains, enhancing support for raw block data.
- Expanded the EVM block schema to better manage raw block data across EVM-based chains.
- Progressed with the development of the Solana block schema, currently enhancing raw block data capabilities for Solana-based chains.
POl investigations:
- Experimented with Kubernetes environments to integrate advanced features and tools for improved resilience and performance. Key developments included implementing automated workflows using k8s_gateway and cert-manager to manage SSL certificates and dynamic DNS challenges.
- Started optimizing Helm charts for specific blockchain deployments to streamline deployment strategies and improve service management on Kubernetes.
New blockchains for this period:
- Moonriver (Moonbeam testnet) (RPC+ Firehose + Substreams)
- Starknet Mainnet reprocessing with new starknet firehose reader (Firehose + Substreams)
- Gravity Mainnet (RPC + Firehose + Substreams) - full blocks
Blockchains under testing:
- iotex (Mainnet and Testnet)
- zksync-era
- rootstock
- injective
- bsc and chapel erigon3
- eth/sepolia/holesky erigon3
**Chains transformed from light to full blocks during this period: **
- Starknet (currently being reprocessed with a new Starknet Firehose reader, transform in-progress)
Auxiliary Service Information for this period:
- Implemented several upgrades across various blockchain nodes, including successful upgrades for Optimism, StarkNet, Moonbeam, and Avalanche, ensuring that all relevant nodes are operating on the latest software versions.
- Addressed high alert volumes through the systematic review and adjustment of Nagios monitoring rules, contributing to a more efficient alert management system.
- Streamlined the backup and storage processes by upgrading Ceph storage capabilities and implementing new disk configurations in multiple data center locations.
Education, onboarding & community support for Indexers and Developers working with new data services
We published 1 new YouTube video:
Pinax is continuing to publish summaries of the Indexer Office hours on our blog every week:
- The Graph Indexer Office Hours #174
- The Graph Indexer Office Hours #175
- The Graph Indexer Office Hours #176

Community events and support:
- Pinax China Team Lead Lena Wang helped organize and host the Graph On Campus event on Oct 13th in Shanghai as part of the Shanghai Blockchain Week. She was the acting point of contact for The Graph on-site, guiding students in the workshop.
- Lena Wang is also coordinating more “Graph On Campus” Events at Chinese Universities
- Pinax is continuing to support the Vietnamese Community Manager for The Graph
- Our Chinese community manager, Eleven, continues to manage The Graph Chinese communities in Telegram, Discord, and WeChat.
- Pinax team members promoted Firehose, Substreams, and The Graph at Token 2049 & Solana Breakpoint in Singapore.
- Pinax team members promoted Firehose, Substreams, and The Graph at Messari Mainnet in New York. We also launched our Data Sets pilot Program at the event and coordinated a PR for the Graph.
- We continue to support the production of The Graph Builders Office Hours each week.
- We continue to heavily promote The Graph ecosystem on the Pinax X account.
- We continued our ecosystem scan and outreach campaign with a focus on Asia and Solana. In the last month, we identified and joined 120 relevant groups and published 65 posts linking to content related to The Graph.
Collaboration with core developers and new consumers on designing and testing new data services while augmenting the Indexer experience with new tooling
Barcelona All-Staff - New Priorities and Goals Coming
