Request for a Revised, Big-Picture Roadmap

Hey everyone,

I wanted to start a constructive conversation about something I think would really help the community stay aligned with the incredible amount of work happening across The Graph ecosystem a revised, big-picture roadmap. Example…..we are doing X,Y, Z items to get to a future state….example 1, example 2.

It’s clear there’s serious momentum right now. Multiple core dev teams are building ambitious components of what feels like a next-generation data stack, but from the outside, it’s hard to understand how these projects connect or where they’re headed collectively.

For example:

  • Horizon was announced a long time ago, and only recently have we started hearing new updates.

  • Edge & Node has been developing Ampersend (and soon a new data service), which seems to tie into the agent/wallet layer and new data service, but we don’t yet know how these will integrate with the broader protocol.

  • Pinax is leading work on the Token API, which opens up powerful ways to access blockchain data directly through APIs, but it’s unclear how this aligns with Ampersend or Horizon’s rollout.

  • GraphOps built the Subgraph MCP which a major advancement that enables AI agents to query The Graph directly, but how does that fit into the bigger plan? Is it connected to Ampersand or intended to be an independent tool layer?

  • And now just today, The Graph announced that GRT is officially a Cross-Chain Token (CCT) (tweet here). That sounds like a major step for interoperability, but what does it actually mean for network participants, payments, or future functionality?

These are all strong signals of progress and it’s clear each core dev team is executing on a critical part of the ecosystem. But without a unified, public-facing updated roadmap, it’s difficult to see how all these puzzle pieces interlock or contribute to the long-term protocol vision.

If there’s an internal roadmap that connects these initiatives, it’s not fully translating externally. Even a high-level version that shows themes like:

  • Protocol & Network Evolution (Horizon, Core upgrades)

  • Data Services & APIs (Token API, Substreams, Foundational Stores)

  • Agent & Wallet Layer (Ampersend, Graph Wallet)

  • Cross-Chain & Economic Infrastructure (CCT, TAP, Payments)

…would go a long way in helping the community understand where we are and what’s next.

I know everyone’s heads-down building, and that communication takes time. But a refreshed roadmap or periodic “State of The Graph” update would really help external users, delegators, and curators see the scale of progress and share that excitement outward.

Thanks for all the work everyone’s doing. It’s clear we’re moving toward something major. We just need the big-picture view to match the progress that’s already happening.

The request for a roadmap is understandable, but the deeper issue is not a lack of coordination updates; it is a lack of clarity and trust around GRT’s economic role.

At this stage, community members do not need another list of projects, initiatives, or ecosystem names. They need transparency about the fundamentals. What purpose does GRT serve now? How are its tokenomics are being managed? What mechanisms exist (or are being conceived) to protect long-term holders from further dilution?

The persistent avoidance of these discussions under the guise of “no price talk” is no longer acceptable or relevant. With regulatory pressure around token discussions having eased, it is both reasonable and necessary for the community to openly examine how the token supply is managed, how emissions and delegation rewards affect inflation, and how much of the treasury or early allocations have been sold or spent.

A credible update should focus less on branding or coordination updates and more on restoring confidence through clear economic transparency and accountability.
