Wonderland April 2025 Update

Executive Summary

In April, we formally joined efforts with the Core Dev to contribute to the continued development of the Knowledge Graph and support initiatives that contribute to the growth of The Graph ecosystem.

As part of this collaboration, we conducted an in-depth exploration of various components of the Knowledge Graph, including infrastructure, smart contracts, and the long-term strategic vision of the protocol. Our initial focus has been directed toward research and early ideation around the design and implementation of the Storage Layer.

What did we do in April?

Deep Dive into Knowledge Graph:

  • Review of the GRC-20 standard
  • Analyzed on-chain and off-chain architectural components
  • Evaluated the infrastructure stack supporting the Knowledge Graph, identifying dependencies and potential bottlenecks

Focus Area: Storage Layer

  • Research on the storage layer, which included the analysis of different architectures, a comparative evaluation of potential alternatives and the study of various implementation approaches suitable for the Knowledge Graph
  • Storage cost models, including price per byte, payment mechanisms, and user-level charging strategies have been studied
  • Initiated the first idea draft for the design of the storage layer

Looking Ahead: Upcoming Priorities

  • Ensure that the upcoming redeployment includes complete support for managing and accounting for storage-related costs
  • Continue research and initiate the first Idea Draft for an MVP implementation of key KG features such as user actions, ranking mechanisms, and pluralistic governance
  • Finalize and validate the initial idea draft for the storage layer and start with the MVP
