:woman_astronaut: Executive Summary

The last month saw strong ecosystem engagement for Edge & Node. Hypergraph in particular received a lot of DevRel, marketing, and business development support from the E&N team in addition to our technical contributions. We also saw major progress toward Horizon deployment, both on the technical front and in preparing the Council to approve its deployment. Alongside continued work on DIPs, Service Quality Oracle, and GRT deployments to new chains, meaningful improvements happened on Graph Node (through v0.40.0), Studio, and Explorer. Looking ahead, key priorities include Service Quality Oracle rollout, expanded educational initiatives, and of course, Horizon deployment.

:tada: Notable July Accomplishments

Engineering

  • Protocol Engineering:

    • Progress on Horizon:

      • Implemented GraphTally escrow manager changes, collaborated with Semiotic to test

      • Refactored some smart contracts code to extract interfaces into a separate package

      • Deployment plan updated to include plans for the offchain protocol components

      • The Council has been apprised of recent changes in preparation for their official approval for Horizon deployment

    • Progress on DIPs:

      • The indexer-agent changes are rebased on top of the Horizon changes, as we expect the latter to be merged first

      • Implementation continued to produce a new payment mechanism for the MVP

      • Audit for the smart contracts concluded with fixes submitted and reviewed by Trust

      • As the project changes hands, completion will take longer than originally estimated as team members switch from other tasks and ramp up

    • Made progress on the Service Quality Oracle implementation, which is now being discussed with Indexers

    • Worked with Foundation and Chainlink to deploy GRT on Base and Avalanche using CCIP

  • Studio / Explorer Engineering:

    • Explorer changes to support Horizon protocol update is ongoing

    • Minor Bugfixes / Improvements:

      • Fixed Studio overlapping log text on Subgraph logs page

      • Fixed Studio deprecated categories handling on Subgraph details page

      • Fixed Studio copy button bug to make entire button area clickable

      • Fixed copy button for Base URL value on Explorer Subgraph details page

  • Graph Node: v0.40.0 released:

    • New Feature: IPFS files can now be cached to disk using an environment variable

    • Runtime: Update Wasmtime version for improved WebAssembly performance

    • GraphQL: Better error messages for OR operator usage with column filters

    • Bug Fixes made in subgraph composition, migration issue, and pruning status reporting

    • Performance

      • Speed up appending changes to batch operations

      • Improved backoff strategy for offchain data sources - files not found are subject to exponential backoff, with configurable maximum backoff

  • Hypergraph:

    • Iterated on a PR to add a SpaceRegistry to create spaces in the public Knowledge Graph, keep track of space IDs and their corresponding DAOs, keep track of users’ home spaces, and allow spaces to migrate to a new DAO while preserving their IDs

    • Lots of improvements to typesync, created a create-hypergraph package, and added a nextjs template

Business Development

  • Used EthCC Cannes opportunity to stay in touch with top subgraph users

  • Displayed Hypergraph use cases

Developer Relations

  • Did two livestreams, pushed many PRs, and offered first workshop for Hypergraph at EthGlobal Cannes

  • Registered The Graph and its experts on Genesys to bridge communities and educate new devs

  • Completed integrations for Zilliqa mainnet & testnet

Marketing & Design

  • Two publications in Tier-1 outlets for Tron integration

  • Drafted and shipped Uniswap and Top Ledger case study blogs

  • Shipped AI-optimized update to docs

  • Studio & Product Engineering

    • Get Explorer’s Horizon-related changes ready for end-to-end testing

    • Minor fix for Explorer’s indexed network filter search

    • Adding grace period for failed card payment attempts in Studio billing

  • Protocol Engineering

    • Service quality oracle: code and GIP to be published soon, with a pilot operation being set up as the team works with Indexers to figure out the initial criteria

    • Horizon: testnet deployment coming soon pending Council approval

    • DIPs: progress will continue
