Edge & Node's March/April 2025 Update

:woman_astronaut: Executive Summary

March and April brought record consistency in Network usage by combining for ~4.5 billion queries. This consistency comes alongside April bringing all-time highs for both query volume and active paying wallets on Studio. The successful launch of Token API, swiftly integrated into Claude, Cline, and Cursor for AI-assisted crypto wallet and price data solutions, underscores The Graph’s ongoing innovation in product development. Rodrigo amplified this momentum through his podcast appearance with BlockFuel, emphasizing the importance of decentralized application data and promoting a globally inclusive builder mindset. Our engineering teams progressed significantly with enhancements to both the product experience and the protocol robustness. Business Development achievements included integrating new chains and onboarding notable partners. Marketing initiatives effectively spotlighted AI-enablement and promoted several impactful co-marketing campaigns, notably with Rootstock and Lens. Developer Relations maintained robust community engagement through new Builders Basecamp missions and interactive office hours. The House of Web3 continued its vibrant growth, welcoming new co-creators and hosting influential community events. Looking ahead, efforts will focus on completing critical protocol updates, preparing for major events like ETHCC and the Stackblitz Hackathon at the House of Web3, and driving adoption of Subgraphs, Substreams, and Token API bundles.

Notable March/April Accomplishments

Engineering

  • Product Engineering:

    • Released enhanced query volume details and sorting features in Graph Explorer, including the much requested sorting of all filtered Subgraphs by query volume.
    • In an effort to optimize our infrastructure, we implemented rate limits in Subgraph Studio that resulted in an uptick in Subgraph publications and traffic on the Network. To help users clarify what they intend to develop and publish, we rolled out the ability to archive unused Subgraphs.
    • The unprecedented back-to-back months of 2.1B+ queries came from a combination of better ways to find relevant Subgraphs on Explorer and more incentive to use Studio as a launchpad for new Subgraphs.
  • Protocol Engineering:

    • Received and began addressing the third Horizon audit report, with several important updates successfully administered already
    • Completed initial DIPs MVP testing with a successful demonstration of an indexing agreement between Indexer Service and a gateway
    • Advanced the DIPs smart contracts significantly with another scheduled audit for June
  • Graph Node:

    • Released v0.38.0 with:
      • more speed and control of grafting and copying
      • enhancements for composable Subgraphs
      • enhancements to aggregation ordering
      • better user experience of terminal commands
  • Indexer Components:

    • Released v0.23.4 & v0.23.5, streamlining network list handling to use the registry, plus removal of outdated features
  • Gateway:

Business Development

  • The combination of thoughtful product changes and nurtured business partnerships resulted in a 23% increase in query volume from February, giving us new peaks in both query volume and active paying wallets on Studio.
  • Recorded substantial query volume growth from major partners such as Balancer and Lido
  • Successfully onboarded Treble Finance, Nutbox, and Atlantis DEX
  • Integrated new chains: MegaETH testnet, Ethereum Hoodi testnet, and Manta

Marketing

  • Supported the Token API Beta launch on March 27th and April 29th
  • Released new product onboarding pages for:
  • Highlighted AI-assisted development as a prime consideration in:
    • New product launches, as with Token API’s integration into Cline, Cursor, and Claude
    • Existing product enhancements, as with hackers at Soneium’s Agent hackathon enabled to build AI agents that access data via Subgraphs
  • Effective co-marketing campaigns

Developer Relations

  • Successfully conducted Builder’s Office Hours sessions, notably “Token API Behind the Scenes” and “7 Tips for Great Deployment Experience”
  • Added 3 more missions to Graph Builders Basecamp
  • With relaxed but informative initiatives like Vibe Coding Fridays, we maintained strong community engagement and visibility, enhancing developer interaction and educational outreach.

House of Web3

  • Onboarded eight new co-creators, continuing strong membership growth
  • Hosted impactful events, including women’s networking, VC gatherings, and climate-focused meetups, enhancing community exposure and brand awareness

What’s Next:

  • Complete the DIPs MVP and finalize off-chain Horizon changes
  • Continue collaboration on the Knowledge Graph protocol
  • Drive greater Subgraphs, Substreams and Token API bundle adoption
