Enhancing Arbitration in The Graph: Task Force Launch, Arbitration Council Expansion, and Process Updates

Arbitration disputes are essential to maintaining integrity within The Graph protocol, requiring thorough review and analysis to achieve fair resolutions. To enhance our arbitration capacity and standards, we’re pleased to announce the creation of a new Arbitration Task Force, which will temporarily take on the responsibilities of the Arbitration Analyst role until a new analyst is onboarded. Additionally, we’re expanding the Arbitration Council to reinforce our commitment to upholding high standards in arbitration.

The Graph Forum will be the central hub for addressing these disputes, where all disputing parties are encouraged to share and contribute relevant data to support their case. This collaborative approach allows transparency and enables the Arbitration Council to evaluate cases with comprehensive insights from all involved.

Please also note that the arbitration process is actively under review to identify areas for improvement. Stay tuned for updates, as we’ll be sharing developments through upcoming GIPs and / or forum posts.

FAQs regarding these updates:

  1. Who makes dispute decisions?

The Arbitration Council remains the decision-making body for arbitration cases. The new Arbitration Task Force will support the Arbitration Council by conducting and presenting research on disputes until a new Arbitration Analyst is appointed.

  1. Can Task Force members create disputes as Fishermen?

Yes, anyone can perform the role of Fisherman, as it’s a permissionless activity. However, Task Force members who raise disputes are committed to transparency, identifying themselves when doing so. For integrity, any Task Force member who initiated a dispute will be recused from working further on that specific arbitration case.

  1. Who can I expect to be in contact with in the event of a dispute?

@absolutelyNot , @tmigone, @Ford, @ari
